Gifted Quilts

I have been lucky enough to be given a number of quilts from various quilters with varying skills.

My youngest, knowing of my love of quilts, with no instructions and no experience made this one for me a couple of years ago. She got her elder sister to help with the embroidery but otherwise all done by her.

Splendid Sampler Challenge - Block 3 - Lots of Love

Lots of Love

Here is block 3. While there where some very small pieces, I found the square fun to do.

I am off the Queensland for a week, so I am not taking stash to make the next 2. I will have to catch up next week. That's ok though, I will be taking my first lap rug to fill in my time, so I will keep busy.

Splendid Sampler Challenge - Block 2 - Wings

Wings

In doing this square, I am very glad to be doing by hand as I have no idea how this was all going to go through a machine.

The pieces are tiny (for me). I have never done anything this small. I am not entirely happy with results but it was fun.

Issues with quilting

My mother has been quilting for many years, so involved with it that she owned a quilting shop and sourced fabrics for her self and her friends. She has also had at least one cat as long as I can remember. She is forever posting photos of GingerSnap (her latest companion) and her antics at "helping" with the making of quilts.

Today, after finishing these 3 squares for  my current project,

I went to iron them open, to store them until they are needed. Meet Klaxon, my ironing helper.

Special Present

There is a baby quilt done.

I wanted something bright and cheerful and not too babyish. Using the fabric pattern called "Folk Festival", I believe it will be well received. Photos as soon as it is delivered.

----------

Quilt was presented on Sunday to many ohs and ahs.

The quilt was made with a fabric series called Folk Festival. It was a package to 2 1/2 inch strips.

Fabric Finds

While wondering around some of the fabric stores, I found some lovely aboriginal inspired fabrics.

Christmas Presents 2015

All of my these projects have been hand sewn. I'm learning how to do it better.

Return to Quilting

After many years (and many other types of crafts), with the encouragement of my lovely mother,  I have returned to the act of Quilting. This blog will show my progress and projects. Enjoy.
