I decided the layout of the quilt using triangles between each hexagon, then a border of plain hexagons around them. Still all hand sewn, I have finished that much.
As you can see it still does not fit my queen size bed, sigh. Now to add some borders, but that is an issue. Because it doesn't fit the bed, I got frustrated with it, and have packed it away until I can look at it with a new head.

New Hexagon Extras
New Hexagon Extras
As I was sewing the hexagons together, I decided I didn't want a square quilt, so I create an extra row for the bottom. Here are the hexagons I created, though some are very similar to ones in the book, They are my design work.
I got a cardboard hexagon shape and drew on the design and used them as my template. they turned out a bit wonky as the cardboard card stock, while thin did not produce the same finished size, but it was a fun experiment.

Mum's Gyspy Wife Quilt

Here are some photos of the quilt Mum brought down to finish the top of, Gypsy Wife is the pattern. It was way out of her comfort zone, the was no symmetry to it, no pattern to follow. She persevered and got it finished well before she was due to go home.
